SACOSS is delighted to be hosting the 6th Annual Post-Budget Breakfast with the Treasurer, the Hon Tom Koutsantonis MP, as an exclusive Member-only event. This year’s breakfast is taking place on Tuesday 19 July.
As always, the State Budget will be crucial for our sector and for vulnerable and disadvantaged South Australians. With South Australia continuing to face high unemployment and underemployment, it is critical that this budget includes initiatives that directly grow employment opportunities, equip South Australians with training and skills, and provide support for communities through this difficult time.
This event is your opportunity to hear Treasurer Koutsantonis speak directly to the community services sector about the State Budget, and is your chance to put your own questions to him.
Registration is only available to SACOSS Individual Members, and staff of SACOSS Member organisations.
For more information contact SACOSS Events Coordinator Vivian Clark on 8305 4224 or email vivian(at)sacoss.org.au

SACOSS, Shelter SA, Community Housing Council SA and Homelessness SA are hosting a major Pre-Election Forum focusing on issues of significance for the South Australian health and community services sector. The forum will have a special focus on affordable housing and homelessness.
There is mounting concern about the uncertainty of homelessness funding provided under the National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness (NPAH), which has no assurances from the federal government regarding funding beyond the middle of next year (2017).
Attendance at this forum is vital for housing affordability and the future of the homelessness sector, but it is also highly relevant for all community sector workers.
The State Councils of Social Service (COSS) are partnering to deliver a webinar series to uncover what every not-for-profit organisation needs to know about effectively responding to government procurement processes delivered in four one hour webinar sessions. SACOSS is thrilled to announce Dame Diane Robertson DNZM will be visiting Adelaide in early May, and through the Family 100 Project has developed a sincere interest in how data can be used to inform and guide human services.
Dame Diane is the outgoing City Missioner at the Auckland City Mission. She was responsible for the collection and analysis of data gathered for the Auckland City Mission’s Family 100 research project, which has become one of New Zealand’s leading authorities on families living in poverty.
Diane is a successful social sector entrepreneur, giving her a unique combination of strong business and financial skills with strong social sector credentials. Her passion is to deliver better outcomes for New Zealanders through the development of sound policies informed by qualitative and quantitative data and she now Chairs the Data Futures Partnership. This Partnership has been created to make a positive impact across the data-use ecosystem, by bringing together a cross-sector group of influential individuals who can work together and provide a collective voice on data issues.
Realising the value of data in an ethical, inclusive and trusted way is expected to deliver benefits to all New Zealanders. This is founded in the belief that when it is safe and good to share data, community members are likely to support social capital and trust in institutions, and to create economic value.
This event looks to explore why data matters – more importantly why data matters when it comes to the delivery of human services.
