Child Wise webinar: Promoting the safety of children and young people with disability

Description: Children with disability have a nearly four times higher risk of experiencing abuse than their non-disabled peers (AIFS 2017). It is therefore, crucial that organisations that work or engage with children and young people with disability make sure that their safety and wellbeing is prioritised. In this webinar hosted by Child Wise, Dr Sally Robinson, Professor in Disability and Community Inclusion at Flinders University will share her knowledge on how to minimise risks of harm to children and young people with disability in an organisational context.

Cost: This webinar is included in the Community of Practice annual membership ($165) along with other webinars in the series, policy updates and other child safety tools and resources. For non-members, the cost per webinar is $55 (GST inclusive).

NEW Child Wise training program: Child Safety in Emergencies

Description: Child Wise specialises in advising organisations and communities on how they can provide a safe and empowering environment for children and young people. The 'Child Safety in Emergencies' is a 2-hour virtual classroom training designed to provide evidence-based information about planning for the physical and emotional safety and wellbeing of children and young people in an emergency response environment.

Date & time: Wednesday 11 November, 2020, 1:30PM – 3:30PM (ACDT)

Cost: The cost of this 2-hour virtual training program is $121 including GST.

Who should attend?

This program is suitable for staff who work in Emergency response, including those involved in HR and volunteer management and planning of emergency responses, as well as Child Safety Officers.
