Tuesday 11 February 2014, Adelaide
The SACOSS 2014 Conference: Taxing Times - Sustaining Vital Services will raise a range of issues which are critical to our sector and to vulnerable and disadvantaged people in our state. These include the need for a sustainable tax base to fund vital services and income supports, gaps in key social justice areas like housing, health, justice and social participation, as well as sector-specific concerns around contracting and the burden of red tape.
A sustainable tax base to fund vital service delivery and income supports is needed to address key social justice issues such as housing, health, justice and social participation.
The key themes for the day are:
- Financing the sector sustainably
- Key issues facing the sector - social justice, health, housing, cost of living
Better contracting and red tape reduction
But what options are there for viable and sustainable revenue to fund service delivery and income supports, and who is responsible for those services? What are the other key issues that the sector is facing? Is it actually possible for governments to offer better contracting arrangements - and if so, what would they look like? How can we assist in reducing the red tape that currently binds the hands of many sector organisations?
The Conference will also feature the Formal Launch of the 2014 SACOSS State Election Platform
The SACOSS 2014 Conference is your opportunity to come together with the sector and be a part of a strong voice that will help build positive outcomes.
