If you work in adult social services or in child protection, counseling or advocacy, this Symposium is an ideal professional development opportunity.

The Symposium aims to engage stakeholders from the broader social services sector who may not consider children as their primary focus. Be part of future early intervention and broader solutions to systemic issues in the field of child protection in South Australia.

By reducing children’s experiences of neglect and abuse, we reduce social problems our community suffers lifelong. In order to ensure the safety of vulnerable children in our communities it is vital that we all recognise that child protection is everybody’s business.

Attendance at the Symposium is a must for senior social service and child protection workers. You’ll have the opportunity to hear perspectives on the bigger picture internationally, focusing on how, collectively, we can work together to keep children safe, and strengthen families.

Symposium speakers include international guest Dr Helen Buckley, Associate Professor at Trinity College Dublin, as well as highly regarded national experts in their field including Professor Fiona Arney from the Australian Centre for Child Protection. Symposium speakers will present on what is driving child protection issues, and how we as stakeholders can help to ensure a child is safe.

Child protection is everyone’s business – we can keep children safe, together

By working collaboratively, professionals who engage with families and adults in other contexts, as well as those who already work in child protection, can refocus on the needs of vulnerable children and make a difference in their lives.
