Poverty and inequality are not inevitable - they are solvable. Every day, governments, departments, policy makers, and decision-makers of all kinds make decisions that can reinforce, or even help create poverty, disadvantage and inequality. But it doesn't have to be this way. Better decisions will create better lives for many South Australians who are currently struggling, and a better state for all of us.
If you would like to advocate for change - and perhaps you already are - there are plenty of things that you can do to help advance these issues and bring them to the attention of policy makers, politicians, and other decision-makers, and advance public understanding.

Contacting your local MP
Contacting your local MP and local candidates can help bring issues to the fore. Members of Parliament are elected to represent their communities, so hearing from people in those communities is a vital way for them to be informed on what is affecting people locally, what people are passionate or concerned about, and what needs to be done to fix some of the issues.
